Special Lebaran Package for Teachers

Hello, Maders! Happy Ied Fitri! Yeah finally we’ve reached the victory after fasting for 30 months. I wasn’t fasting for 5 days because of, you know, menstruation. When ‘lebaran’ comes, I’d like to talk about the food. The best!

I was surprised because I got something from the school where I teach. Every teacher got the same package, it was what the headmaster said. My family’s having close relationship with the headmaster’s family because my dad often goes to the headmaster’s father.

So, the package contained 6 jars of different cookies. Another bag had ‘sarung’ and shirt for a man. I’m a girl, I don’t wear them, then I gave ‘em to my dad. Wow it’s really cool that I could give something to parents because so far they always buy me something. I have my own salary since I teach students, it’s not much though.

I will go back teaching on July 17 and there will be two classes, grade 10 and 11. I’m about to meet freshmen there. Haha. As usual, I will introduce myself as Miss Nissa. Frankly speaking, I’m still young and I know the youngster’s world, that’s why I can get into them easily.

On the other hand, I will start attending class in my new university on August 14. I will only have to attend classes three days in a week. Hmm, I wonder how the professors there. I hope they’re all nice. I hardly know my friends, well, just a few.

This is the longest holiday I’ve ever had. Could you imagine it? 5 months! Yeah I prefer being at home, playing the piano, writing my blogs, playing games. Haha. Sometimes I go downtown to buy books or to eat. My friends will come to my house for a visit once or twice.

Okay, Maders, that’s the special package for teachers I got. Very interesting. No matter how much it is, when someone gives you something, it will always be precious. Right? Have a good day, Maders!

Philately Gathering in June 2017

Hi, Maders! Do you collect something? Well, I’ve been collecting postcards and stamps. Actually I also collect books because I love reading and you can call me a ‘bookworm’. Yes! You can see my collections on Instagram. They’re narnia.philately and narnia.library. I post them there to make the documentation.

Every third week in a month, I need to attend a philately gathering at the central post office in Semarang City. FYI everyone can join us and even you can just come one day to see our collections. It’s funny that mostly my friends are already adults. Compared to them, I’m still a kid. Haha.

This time, I had a chance to meet a Dutch who was being our guest. He bought something at the post office because he’s also a collector. He went there with his Indonesian wife. I could speak Dutch a bit, so it was a great moment to talk to the native speaker.

Mbak Riva, a staff at the philately corner, took my picture with Wilfried, the Dutch man. Thanks to her that she did it because probably I wouldn’t have something to keep.

Honestly I was about to buy postcards for being my stock. In fact, I still have a few at home. Hence, I decided to buy only two postcards to send someday. I’m the member of post-crossing community.

The animal that I’m afraid of is butterfly, but I saw butterfly postcards yesterday. I felt confused whether I should have bought it or not. No! Why do I have to keep something I dislike, don’t I?

Sending postcards is fun because I will receive other postcards as a return. Unfortunately, many people don’t know about postcards or how to send them with stamps. Really bad! Okay I know there’s a smart phone having chat applications but that’s not the point. It’s abstract. In contrast, these postcards are real and I get them from overseas.

Lastly, Maders, please learn about postcards and stamps if you have no idea about them. You live in modern world but it’s not always modern way we need to keep up. See ya!

Watching The Mummy at Citra XXI

Hello, Maders! Have you watched The Mummy? Yup, the main actor is Tom Cruise. Oh, he’s so damn hot in the movie! Honestly I love Tom Cruise since he played in the Mission Impossible series.

Yesterday, I had a chance to watch the movie with my friends - Rifqi and Syahrul (they’re brothers) – along with their mom. They asked me to join them a few days before and absolutely I said yes. I rarely watch movie because of the price. Usually I ask someone who has watched the movie, and he/she will tell me the plot. Spoiler! Well, at least I can save my money for something else. Better know the story though. Haha.

Personally I give my two thumbs up for The Mummy. It must be hard for making such an awesome movie. The visual effects are extraordinary and once again I love the actors (not only Tom Cruise). On the other hand, the movie is a bit creepy. I don’t like horror movies but the mummy showed up several times with you know, mysterious moves.

Although The Mummy deals about ancient Greek stuff, it has funny conversation (read: humor). It’s very recommended for those who love action genre, history, and fantasy.

A week from now, Rifqi will have a birthday on June 26. The date is the same with me, but mine is in May. What a coincidence! I gave him an early birthday present, a green bicycle miniature. I had no idea if his favorite color is green. I was lucky because I also wrapped it in green paper. He loves it!

Actually today I sent cards for Rifqi and his brother. Inside the envelope was a birthday card for Rifqi with my Narnia business card and a card for Syahrul with basketball picture. As long as I know, he loves basketball, so I think it will be nice if he gets a card too from me.

I intentionally keep it as a secret. I don’t tell both of them. I just hope that my envelope will get there before his birthday. Hahaha. Well, I love secret missions. If he reads my blog about this, ah surely he will know. It’s okay though.

Okay, Maders, that’s all for today. I hope you have a great day. Stay awesome and keep being cool!

Visiting Rifqi's House in Boja

Heyho, Maders! How’s your weekend? I had a great fun moment last Sunday with Rifqi and Shafa. I met Rifqi (and his mom) for the first time at Kampung Inggris enjoying a free course. Then we’re being friends ever since. He’s visited my house and I visited his in turn.

I went to Boja with Shafa, my bestie next-door-neighbor. She came to my house around 9.30am and we’re ready to go. I rode a motorcycle although dad wanted me to drive a car. The reason was because I didn’t know Rifqi’s house yet. In fact, there was a crazy traffic jam and felt like hell. Thank God I brought a motorcycle instead of a car.

I was using GPS as long as I drove. Shafa held it behind my back and she somehow told me in rush about the direction. Hahaha. I asked her to show me the way long before I stepped it up. Get it?

We kept in touch with Rifqi’s mom through chatting on Whatsapp. She asked Rifqi to pick me and Shafa up and we met in front of Telkom. Then I followed him. Finally, we arrived at his house.

He has a big house with super wide yard around. Incredible! There are a lot of fish, birds, and trees with various kinds. Shafa and I were not fasting, so the host gave me slices of delicious cheese bread, glasses of strawberry syrup, and some fruit. I didn’t feel good with people around me because they’re fasting. Hhahaha. Sorry.

Rifqi, Shafa, and I played scrabble for two sessions and we used powder. I put some on Rifqi’s face because he surrendered a few times. He also put it on my face once and we did it to Shafa as well. We laughed and thought hard while playing scrabble as it’s a smart game.

Psstt, I had a chance to see Rifqi’s room, a boy’s bedroom. And wow, it’s very comfy! I wanna sleep there. Hahaha. He showed me a little of his Japanese projects, comics, and Japanese books. He loves Japanese stuff FYI. What made me happy was I saw my postcard on his studying table. I didn’t know if he put it there. Lovely!

In the end, Rifqi’s mom and dad gave me fruit and cheesy banana. Thanks a lot! They’re a real sweet family! Okay, Maders, have a nice day! Bye!

Viktor Takacs' Photography in Hungary

Yellow, Maders! How's life? Anyway, I have a Hungarian friend named Viktor. I met him and his wife, Victoria, at a museum because there was my mom’s friend’s child’s wedding party. Viktor is a professional photographer, so he always brings his camera with him.

We talk through Whatsapp and Viktor gave me some pictures while he’s being in Hungary. He stayed at a hotel instead of being at his own house because it’s in Budapest.

This is Palace Hotel where he's been staying:

Lastly, Viktor will try to find a postoffice to send me a postcard. I love post crossing stuff because I've been collecting postcards. You can see my collection on Instagram (narnia.philately). Okay, Maders! See you next time. Stay awesome!
